Food - eat healthy

Why do we need to eat healthy food? The main reason for that is to give us energy to work whole day long. We need food to live and to grow at a healthy rate. A healthy food will keep our body working properly, keep blood sugar or glucose level in balance and avoid other health problems. For those who may want to lose weight, healthy food may help them too.

Food is the source that brings energy to our body everyday. The three main sources carbohydrates, protein and fat will help our blood glucose stay in balance. Carbohydrates are a good source of energy for our body. Many foods contain carbohydrates. But if you eat too many carbohydrates at one time, blood glucose may go up too high.

Let's see some good carbohydrates choices. Foods like whole grain foods, fresh fruits and vegetables have lots of fiber. Foods like white bread, white rice, sweetened fruit drinks, sweets and dessert should not take too much.

Protein foods help to build strong bones and muscles. Having protein in meal can help you feel less hungry. Protein can be getting from foods like meat, fish, cheese, eggs, beans, soy and nuts.

Fats do not make blood glucose go up but too much fat can make you gain weight. Nowadays many people face the weight problem. Choose fats that will keep our heart healthy like salad, low fat mayonnaise, nuts, olives and vegetable oils. High fat foods are not healthy for our heart. Be careful of those high fat foods like potato chips, French fries, meat, cake, cookies and other dessert.

Everyone likes sweet foods. Small amount of sweet food is still can consider as healthy food. But if take too much sweet food, it will harm our health. Dessert such as cookies, cakes, pies and ice cream contain a lot of fat and sugar. If you feel thirsty, drink water or sugar free drink.

It's better to spread your food over a day. Eat less but many meals. Breakfast will give you the energy for the whole day, so don’t skip breakfast. If you take in more than your body burns, you will gain weight. But if you take in less than your body burns, will lose weight.
